Function
The function of the Parish Council is to act as an Advisory Body to the Parish Priest.
Constitution
The Parish Council Constitution sets out the procedure by which the Parish is governed and is available at the back of St Chad’s and St Mary’s and upon request to any Parishioner.
Membership
Membership of the Parish Council consists of: Parish Priest, Treasurer, Elected Members (from both St Chad’s and St Mary’s), Appointed Members who are representatives of the Working Groups.
Meetings
Council meetings are held regularly throughout the year with an Annual Parish Meeting taking place in June. Working Group meetings are held as required. Dates of meetings are published in the weekly Newsletter.
Minutes
Following each Council Meeting summary notes of the meetings are available to view online here. When the Minutes have been approved by the Council at their next meeting they are available to read in the Dining Room at St Chad’s.

The Pastoral Council has a responsibility to ensure that Safeguarding procedures are in place and comply with the Dioceses of Middlesbrough Child Protection Policies. Safeguarding Representatives have special responsibilities for promoting good and safe practices in all activities involving children, young people and adults at risk. The new regulations came into force in May 2018 and the Pastoral Council has a responsibility to ensure that we are fully compliant with these regulations as stated in the Parish Privacy Notice, which has been approved by Ampleforth Abbey.
